BO's Coffee Club, Island City Mall Branch. Bohol

BO's Coffee is one of the Iconic Philippine Coffee Franchises. Located all over the country, BO’s Coffee is the home of a great tasting brew.

Bohol has two BO's Coffee Club outlets, one is found at ICM Mall and the other is opposite the Plaza Rizal, Tagbilaran City Center.

I have visited BO’s on many occasions and in my opinion the Café Latte is the best tasting in town. BO's also offers a wide range of pastries both sweet and savory. The coffee and cakes are a little pricey but the quality and presentation does tend to offset this.

Along with a wide choice of coffee styles, they sell a range of fresh roasted coffee blends and can grind it for you in the store.

Like the majority of good coffee shops there is a charge for using the WIFI. Most will say its free but of course you need to make a purchase to avail of this.

I understand BO's coffee now has a minimum 200p purchase before you can use the WIFI. Hello this is Bohol, not London or New York. I respect that one has to pay for the service, but 200p minimum order!. Charging your laptop is an additional fee.

So far all would seem great in the World of BO's. Sadly not so for this once regular customer. Please read below, the reasons I no longer visit BO's Coffee in Tagbilaran, Bohol.

I visited BO's (near Plaza Rizal) nearly every day for a month, typically spending at least 250 – 400p daily. I popped in for a quick coffee and to check my email. The coffee was 85p, the sales girl told me that I could not use the WIFI unless I spent 100p (the min charge at the time).

I explained that I would likely buy another coffee or a cake and that anyway I had been in every day for the last 4 weeks. It mattered not to her or the Management. That was it for me and the BO's Coffee Shop in Tagbilaran City Center.

At BO's ICM I purchased a Latte while waiting for my friend to join me. The coffee was paid for and as usual brought to my table. Ten minutes later my Filipina friend joined me. She ordered her coffee, to my surprise, the sales girl asked her to collect it from the counter.

This really made me angry. I asked my friend to leave and then took the matter up with the staff. I asked why they served my coffee and had done so every time I visited the shop, yet they asked her to get it from the counter herself. We were the only customers inside the shop at the time

I was informed "Actually its Our Policy Sir, if you are inside the shop, you collect it yourself". Bullsh*t, its more to do with the female sales girl feeling that my Filipina friend had no right to be served by her. Why in over a year of buying coffee there has that policy never been imposed on me. Perhaps because I am white, I get preferential treatment.

To impose your policies on regular and loyal customers in my opinion sucks. I told the staff how I felt and have never gone back. I like a good cup of coffee but do not like pretentious attitudes or individuals. BO's is just a Coffee Shop, its not the Ritz Hotel. To be fair one of the employees did apologize, but for me the damage was already done.

For the benefit of the Bohol BO's coffee staff, on a recent visit to SM Cebu, two of the BO's outlets I visited, brought my coffee to my table. They were fairly busy at the time. Enough Said.

Great Coffee, Great Cakes but let down by policies that are imposed without any thought or sometimes ignored completely.no

I no longer visit either of the BO's coffee outlets here in Bohol because of my experiences detailed above. That said the coffee is great and I am sure you will enjoy your visit.

Quoting Ed:
I moved to Tagbilaran only recently, and I've been going to Bo's on the plaza almost daily. The wifi is free, and there is no charge for plugging in my laptop.

**BoholLife says** Maybe they changed their policy, but for sure the wifi is only free if you buy something in BO's (Thats only right and fair) it used to be P 100 minimun charge then went up somewhat. Perhaps they saw the error of their ways:-)

I probably buy over the minimum so that it's never been mentioned to me. As you said, it's right and fair that they do that. Otherwise, people will occupy seats not to consume product but to use the Internet. It's a business after all.

yes indeed. it's so stupid for BO's management. i was there weeks ago and was so upset to be told that i have to purchase 150 pesos worth of coffee to avail of their wifi. and yet they have a 35 peso cup of coffee! so i went to nearby dunkin donuts where you can order a 20 peso bottled water and you'll have a free and unlimited WIFI. BOBO talaga ang BO! ( sayang)

BoholLife.com: Good for you Julius, only when people start to vote with their feet will some of these businesses learn, that there is a better way.
