Tourist Spots in Bohol

Mag-Aso Falls, Antequera, Bohol, is a tourist spot of natural beauty. The twin falls around 25 feet in height dominating the site. The rocks at their base eroded over thousands of years, forming a large pool.
The Falls lay at the bottom of a deep gorge, tropical flora and fauna surrounding the entire site. Towering trees form a shroud that adds to the whole rain forest experience. Mag-Aso Falls really is like walking onto the set of an exotic movie.
The walk down presents no real problems as concrete steps (197, I believe) and sturdy handrails make easy going of the otherwise steep slope leading to the falls. Reaching the bottom you’re greeted with a truly breathtaking view, the falls forming a stunning backdrop to take a memorable photograph. If you are in a wheelchair or have mobility issues, Mag-Aso Falls is best avoided.
Looking up in to the forest canopy you will notice a smoke like haze. “Aso”, in the local dialect meaning “smoke”. I believe this is caused by tiny water droplets hanging in the air above the falls.
You can swim at Mag-Aso Falls. Care should be taken as the main pool is quite deep under the falls. It gets shallower further back. For the more daring you can walk / climb up the far side of the gorge and make a spectacular dive in to the pool below.
At the top of the site is a ticket booth where you pay the small entry fee. A couple of Sari Sari stores sell drinks and snacks. It might be a good idea to buy a bottle of water as the environment is very hot and humid and there are no shops at the bottom.
Typical in many of the lesser know tourist spots, toilets do not feature high on the list of amenities. For us guys there is always an option but the gals may just to hold on.
