Tourist Spots in Bohol
Bohol Coco Farm, located in Libaong, Panglao Island, Bohol. A great new ECO Tourist Attraction in Panglao and well worth taking the family for a fun couple of hours.
Here is their Mission Statement:
We aspire to harness the art of coconut cultivation and endeavor to unfold the possibilities of creating new and distinct by-products of coconut through fun and recreation
You will be given a comprehensive farm tour, the knowledgeable guide will introduce you to the various aspects of the farm and show you a variety of herbs & vegetables growing in their natural (organic) state. Yup that’s correct folks eggplant, ginger, okra and a whole host of other vegetables are all grown, they don’t just magically appear on supermarket shelves
.
Don't forget to look in on the free range and native chickens and pigs (baboy) as well.
The Coco Farm uses the various by-product of the coconut, one example is the weaving of the husks in to fibers that are then turned into matting. This can be used to help prevent soil erosion and ultimately protect against land slides.
For many the ultimate thrill at the Bohol Coco Farm will be the Coco Skywalk (sorry to the younger readers but you will need to be at least 7 years old). This exciting walk suspended atop several Coconut Trees gives you a commanding view over the site and just caps of a great morning or afternoon.
You are quite high so its not for the faint hearted. Please see our pictures of the Bohol Coco Farm at the bottom of this article.
If you want to take a break for a drink or bite to eat then visit Bohol Coco Farm’s Palwa Restaurant. They serve a variety refreshments (try the fresh Buko Juice) along with a selection of traditional dishes including: Native Chicken (Haang-halang, Tinola), Goat (Kalderetang Kambin) and what Filipino table would be complete without a bowl of Sinigang. All the vegetables are organically grown on site.
Before you leave, stop by the gift shop / workshop where you can by a little memento of your visit, of course its made out of coconut in one form or another.
I like the Coco Farm so much that I have now included it as part our "Panglao Island Day Tour Adventure" I understand that things are being developed on an ongoing basis, so really it can only get better.
All this for just P 50 / person.
